Our main work is in the Philippines working with families living and working in slums.

 

In partnership with the local church, we run our education programme in the cities of Manila, Navotas, Malabon and Bulacan.

Our centre of operation is in Navotas City, which is a coastal city in the northwest part of Metro Manila. It is a narrow strip of land with an aggregated shoreline of approximately 4.5 km. Although Navotas is known for its fishing industry, many of the population live below the poverty line. With a population of over 250,000 people, the city is over-crowded with very little space to build new homes nor infrastructure.  This usually results to families (both old and new settlers) building shanty houses in and around the shorelines.

Like many other cities, Navotas is confronted with issues of unemployment, drug-related crimes, gambling, homelessness and more recently cybersex dens including the use of minors and human trafficking.
